EARIE, the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics, is a society of professionals from the academic, business and policy community alike, that brings together all those working in the broad field of industrial economics. Its annual conference serves as a platform for members to present and discuss their latest research, to listen to renowned key-note speakers, and to develop further (in)formal networks.
After Berlin in 2004, and Porto in 2005, the 33rd conference of the EARIE will be held in Amsterdam from 25 - 27 August 2006. As Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee I cordially invite all those with a keen interest in industrial economics to join us in Amsterdam for a scientifically challenging conference. Participants to the conference can attend numerous parallel sessions that are devoted to specific themes, have access to keynote lectures, and have the opportunity to explore the exciting city of Amsterdam.
We are very pleased to announce this year's key-note speakers: Joe Harrington (Professor of Economics, Johns Hopkins University), Ernst Fehr (Professor of Economics, University of Zurich), and Philip Lowe ( Director General of DG Competition of the European Commission ).
The annual conference in Amsterdam also comes with a new initiative: a plenary round-table of editors. Chaired by Stephen Martin, editors of the RAND Journal of Economics, the Journal of Industrial Economics, the Review of Industrial Organization, and the International Journal of Industrial Organization will discuss "Trends in IO publishing".
The Local Organizing Committee is excited about what looks to become a very stimulating conference and I am looking forward to welcome you all in August as your local host for EARIE 2006.
